Every Christmas, Pillows from Heaven will give sachets to abused women living in shelters. We call them gifts of compassion.
Each pillow comes with a prayer note and a bag of smoothing lavender potpourri.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of our sachet pillows will be donated to the Lupus foundations –
the Cancer Foundation and to organizations that support abused women.
Demetria – Domestic Abuse:

The statistics for violence against women in the United States are shocking. More needs to be done to put an end to this horrific crime against women. Pillows from Heaven is joining the fight against Domestic abuse, contributing products, clothes and financial support.

Donielle Artese– in Cedars Sinai Hospital for 32 days – She endured kidney failure, and a host of other complications. She wrapped up in this unique blanket made by her mother, Demetria – the blanket is designed with satin crosses, and has healing scripture embroidered on it.

“Doctor’s said I would not survive such a vicious, deadly lupus attack. Well, look at me now.” Not only did I survive, I made it to the Red Carpet. Oh, I still have lupus, and I do not underestimate its potential fury. But I make a conscious decision to live in perfect health every day, and I surround myself with things that make me smile; Like my two baby “dogs”, my girl Bailey and my “old man” Kahlua whose 14 years old. I am happily pursing my dream of acting and I also love fashion. I design clothes, and my mom sews them for me. We are a perfect team. But when it’s all said and done, my greatest pleasure comes from knowing that God has given me special favor, and has filled me with passion to be an encourager to others.” …

Cancer runs in my family. My birth mom died from cancer November, 1970, when she was 57 years old. My sister Bunny died from cancer in 1988 – she was 54. As I write this story, I am 58 years old.
Because of my family history of cancer, I made a conscious decision to have a mammogram every year. On May 20, 2000, my mammogram came back abnormal…At age 45, I had breast cancer too. The good news was, the cancer was detected at a somewhat early stage, and the tumor wasn’t too big yet. That meant I was a good candidate for a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy.
The battle was on. I had to have several lymph nodes removed and tested to see if the cancer had spread anywhere else. One node was indeed affected. I had to have several rounds of chemotherapy, as well as weeks of daily radiation. BUT…I would get to keep my breast! What more can a girl ask for?!

We at Pillows from Heaven have been deeply touched by lives of centenarians, and we plan to do our small part to help brighten their lives. To start with, we have designed a line of centenarian pillow cases for citizens100 years old and older that we give to them as birthday gifts.

“I have always had a healthy diet and I still exercise. A few stretches a day.” says Ms. Aretha, born January 19, 1911. She is very independent, lives alone, and has her own car. She drives herself everywhere, which includes, Second Baptist Church, in Los Angeles where she has been a member since 1947. She still sings in the church choir twice every Sunday. She has never suffered any of the chronic diseases – her only health concern is high blood pressure. She is very fashion conscious and still wears short shirts and high heels. Ms. Aretha has one daughter and one granddaughter.
In 2010, according to the National Institute on Aging, there were about 80,000 centenarians in the United States. And like Ms. Aretha, many are functionally independent and generally full of life. Centenarians are instrumental in helping researchers uncover factors that can help the human race live healthy, vigorous and disability-free at older ages.
Unfortunately, in our youth obsessed culture, older citizens are often devalued and ignored. We at Pillows from Heaven have a special place in our hearts for centenarians and we plan to do our small part to help brighten their lives. To start with, we have designed a line of centenarian pillow cases for citizens100 years old and older that we give to them as gifts. Giving gifts of compassion is one of the ways that we serve the LORD.
